Professor Greg Fox
Principle Investigator
Professor Greg Fox is a respiratory physician, an epidemiologist and a clinical trialist at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He is also a Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Sydney. Professor Fox is a member of the International Union of TB and Lung Disease, the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the McGill International TB Center in Canada.
Professor Guy Marks

Professor Guy Marks is an expert in lung health working in Respiratory Medicine, South Western Sydney Clinical School and University of New South Wales. Professor Marks is the Head of Respiratory and Environmental Epidemiology at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He is also an Honorary Professor at University of Sydney. He is the Chair of the NSW TB Advisory Committee, and also President of the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease.

Professor Ben Marais
Chief Investigator
Professor Ben Marais is a paediatrician and paediatric infectious diseases specialist with an interest in global health. He is internationally renowned for his work on childhood and multi drug-resistant (MDR)-tuberculosis (TB). He serves on the executive committee of the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Tuberculosis Control and is a founding member of the Australasian Tuberculosis Forum. He is a strong advocate for Australia to take a leadership role in coordinating enhanced TB and MDR-TB control efforts in the Asia-Pacific region. More broadly, as Co-Director of Sydney ID, he works toward creating a dynamic multi-disciplinary research community in infection, immunity and biosecurity.
Dr. Shukry Zawahir
Dr Shukry Zawahir (PhD, MSc, GDip ClinEpid, B.Pharm) is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Sydney Australia. He has over 17 years of experience in tertiary teaching and research. He has worked as a clinical trial coordinator for seven years conducting phase II and phase III trials, tobacco control research and antimicrobial resistant related research in different part of the world in collaboration with different international research groups.
Dr. Jaslyn Doshi
Dr. Jaslyn Doshi (MBBS, FRACP, DTMH, BMedSci) is an Infectious Diseases and General Medicine Specialist in NSW Health and is a PhD student with University of Sydney, Australia working on V-RESIST projects currently.

Dr. Cao Hung Thai
Mr Cao Hung Thai is a deputy director of Medical Service Administration (MSA), MoH, Viet Nam since 2009 and a member of National Steering Committee of AMR from 2014 to present. Prior to his current assignment, he used to be a lecturer of HUP from 1985 to 1995 and a pharmaceutical expert of personnel Department of MoH from 1995 to 2008.
Professor Dang Duc Anh
Professor Dang Duc Anh is the Director of National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology since 2015 with great expertise on bacterial antibiotic resistance and microbiology. He serves as the principal investigators of many international and national research studies including V-RESIST study.
Professor Nguyen Viet Nhung
Professor Nguyen Viet Nhung is the Director of the National Lung Hospital and the Manager of the National TB Program in Vietnam since 2013. He has participated in many big international and national research studies on TB and lung diseases. He also serves as a Chief investigator for V-RESIST study with great contribution to the study design and implementation.
Dr. Tran Huy Hoang
Dr. Tran Huy Hoang is the Head of Antimicrobial Laboratory, National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Dr Hoang’s expertises focuses on microbial molecular biology, bacterial genetics, bacterial antibiotic resistance and molecular microbiology. His most recent works focuses mainly on antimicrobial resistance and Onehealth.
Dr. Pham Thi Thuy Van
Dr. Pham Thi Thuy Van is an Associate Professor and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Pharmacy at Clinical Pharmacy Department, Hanoi University of Pharmacy. She also works as the Deputy Head of Clinical Pharmacy Department, Hanoi University of Pharmacy as the Head of Clinical Pharmacy Division and a member of the antimicrobial committee in Huu Nghi Hospital. Associate Professor Van is a consultant for the Drug Administration of Vietnam to evaluate clinical part of drug dossier submitted for visa registration in Vietnam and a member of National Advisory Council for Drug Registration, Ministry of Health.
Dr Nguyen Thu Anh
Dr Nguyen Thu Anh is a public health expert with more than 20 years’ experience in design and management of health studies. She has taught research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics and modeling at both Hanoi Medical University and Southern Cross University. Dr Thu Anh has also worked for a decade in senior management positions at international health organisations. She was awarded the ProSPER Net-Scopus Young Scientists Award in 2012 as the first runner up and Award 2010 Asia 21 Young Leaders’ Medical Work in Vietnam. Dr Thu Anh received her doctoral degree in medical anthropology at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Ms Pham Ngoc Yen has a background in sociology and gained a Master of Medical Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. She has more than 13 years’ experience conducting public health research, mostly based at international NGOs like the Clinton Foundation, Pact, and Medical Committee Netherlands. Ms Pham Ngoc Yen specialises in health-seeking behaviour, HIV/AIDS, childcare, education, communication and capacity building. Currently, she is responsible for Operations at Woolcock Vietnam and also manages the implementation of the VCAPS AND V-RESIST studies.
